Nike will release the Kyrie 1 in Menta/Emerald Green/Fuchsia Flash/White colorway, which is officially listed as the "Flytrap" edition of the signature shoe.
The Kyrie 1 "Flytrap" features different shades of green on the upper part combined with fuchsia flash lining and Kyrie Irving logo on the tongue and insole. It also has a metallic silver Nike Swoosh, and finished off with an emerald green midsole and fuchsia flash outsole.
Earlier this year, images of this shoe leaked online and fans speculated that it will be named as the "Australia" edition to pay tribute to the All-Star point guard's birthplace, but Nike confirmed that it is dubbed as the "Flytrap" edition.
According to Nike, this edition was inspired by the Venus flytrap's vaunted split-second attack. The colors used in this sneaker show the hues of the Venus flytrap plant.
Nike Blog compared Irving to several characteristics of the Venus flytrap plant. Irving, a three-time NBA All-Star, is known as one of the quickest and fastest players in the NBA.
"The shoe's distinct palette, which sees a deep teal offset by brash orange liner and outsole alongside a pop of bright green, is inspired by the Venus flytrap plant which uses deadly precision and patience to pick off its prey," Nike Blog noted. "Those characteristics are paralleled in Kyrie Irving, who freezes opponents with awe-inspiring ball control."
Aside from its excellent look, the new Kyrie 1 is a must-buy especially for players who rely on their quickness and speed like Irving, who told designer Leo Chang that he wants to have a shoe tailor-made for his unique skill set.
As a result, Irving and Chang came up with a light and responsive sneaker, which also has one of the best traction systems among Nike shoes that helps the Cavaliers superstar take advantage of his deadly first step.
The Kyrie 1 provides top-class responsiveness as it has the well-loved Zoom Air cushioning combined with a 360-degree dynamic traction pattern for outstanding grip, and was made up with Hyperfuse materials for excellent support.
The Kyrie 1 "Flytrap" will arrive at retailers on Thursday and will be available for $110 per pair on Nike.com and select Nike Stores worldwide. Official photos and more information are available on this link.
