We are less than 8 days away from Black Friday, which unofficially kicks off the Christmas shopping season with its crazy sales and bargain basement prices.

1. Target: Target has an 50" Element 1080p LCD HDTV on sale for $299 (original retail price: $599). 

2. Best Buy: Best Buy has a 39" Insignia 1080p LCD HDTV on sale for $170.

3. Sam's Club: Sam's Club has a Vizio 50" 1080p Smart LCD HDTV on sale for $498.

4. Sears: Sears has a 55" Seiki 4K Ultra HDTV on sale for $850.

5. Walmart: The discount retailer has the most Black Friday deals available for televisions. Amongst them:

If you're looking for some other Black Friday deals on televisions, remember something very important: according to the Christian Science Monitor, cheaper isn't always better. Sometimes, with these "rock-bottom" prices, you're trading off quality. For example, does it pay to spend less and get a television from a less-than-reputable manufacturer, or to spend a little more and get it from a reputable manufacturer? CSM suggests that you really weigh your options, and do some online research, before committing to any expensive electronics. Also, bear in mind that these sale prices are in limited quantity, and for a limited time. Does it pay, really, to trade your comfort and safety for the possibility of a $200 TV?
