Nike Release Dates 2015, Price, Where to Buy & Photos: Classic Cortez, Blazer Mid Metric ‘Royal Blue’ [Pics]
Nike is set to release two classic models this weekend, and both sneakers are expected to be among the hottest items on the sneaker market in the coming days.
The Nike Classic Cortez, which was first released in 1972, will be making its return to circulation in its original colorway -- White/Varsity Red-Varsity Royal -- on Saturday, 10 a.m. EST, worldwide.
The Classic Cortez OG edition features a white-based leather upper part combined with foam tongue that bears the Nike logo. It also has a varsity red Nike Swoosh logo, and finished off with a full EVA white and royal blue midsole, and white rubber outsole with herringbone pattern for superb traction.
Despite its simple look, Nike pointed out that this running shoe changed the game because of the comfort the 43-year-old sneaker could provide, and its durability even at a very affordable price.
"The Nike Cortez revolutionized the running world through the innovative thinking of track coach Bill Bowerman," Nike said in a statement. "His vision was simple: create a running shoe that's as comfortable as it is durable. The result not only allowed his athletes to run longer and faster, but it also changed the sport."
The Nike Classic OG edition will be available for $100 per pair on Nike.com and select Nike Stores worldwide. More information and official photos of this classic running shoe are available on this link.
Meanwhile, Nike will also release a new colorway of the classic Blazer Mid Metric. It will come out in an all-royal blue colorway on Friday, 10 a.m. EST, worldwide.
The Nike Blazer Mid Metric "Royal Blue" features a molded TPU upper part that bears a unique geometric pattern. Noticeably missing is the iconic Nike Swoosh on the side panel, but it was removed to give emphasis on the distinct pattern on the upper part of the classic model. The Nike Swoosh appears on the tongue and insole, though.
"A pioneering Nike Basketball model breaks through this spring with a unique finish for everyday life," Nike noted in a statement. "Paving the way for Nike Basketball, the Blazer Mid was introduced in 1973. Since then, the classic hoops' shoe has made a seamless transition from the hardwood to the streets with countless versatile looks."
The Nike Blazer Mid Metric "Royal Blue" will be available for $100 per pair also on Nike.com and select retailers worldwide. Detailed images of the shoe are available on this link.
