Google Phone Rumors: Two Versions of Nexus 7 Coming Out in 2015?
Google has used several partners to help them create their Nexus devices. Asus, HTC, Samsung, LG and Motorola have all helped build tablets and phones for Google. Now, Google might be using another less popular company to build the next Nexus, according to TechRadar.
Recently, Google brought out the Nexus 6, a smartphone. Motorola created it for them.
Google has two Nexus devices planned for this year and one of them could be built by a Chinese manufacturer. This is according to reports from Chinese social networking site Weibo.
The source reveals that two Nexus 7 models will come out this year. One Nexus 7 will be a high end model and will be produced by LG. Then there will be a low end model produced by an unnamed Chinese manufacturer.
The source mentioned that the unknown manufacturer could use its own processor inside the Nexus 7 or opt to use Qualcomm's.
If the manufacturer uses its own processor, Huawei makes sense as the company that would create the low end Nexus 7.
Huawei makes its own Hisilcon Kirin processor and puts it into many of its handsets. The processor would work inside a Nexus 7.
TechRadar does not know of any other Chinese manufacturer that makes its own processor. This is why Huawei makes sense as the next creator of a Nexus 7 device.
Since there is no confirmation on this information, customers will have to wait until an official announcement is made on new Nexus 7 devices. If Weibo is correct, a new Nexus 7 device will likely come out before the end of the year.
The last Nexus device was the Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 came out in October 2014, so the next one might have to wait until fall.
The name of the next Nexus device is also unknown. There is already a Nexus 7 device on the market, so Google might want to come up with a new name for the upcoming Nexus device.
Who do you think makes the next Nexus device? LG? Samsung? Huawei? Or someone else? Leave us a comment below and let us know your guess.
