International Women's Month: Rihanna, Katy Perry & Beyonce Most Streamed Women on Spotify
Rihanna and Katy Perry are a few of the most streamed female artists on Spotify according to numbers compiled by the streaming music service, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
To celebrate International Women's Day this Sunday, Spotify looked into the listening habits of its users to determine which female artist was the most streamed on its service.
For the third year in a row, Rihanna was the world's top steamed woman on Spotify. She beat out the second most streamed woman, Katy Perry, and the third, Beyonce, for the honor.
The full top ten artists ranked are Rihanna, Perry, Beyoncé, Lana del Rey, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Ellie Goulding, Taylor Swift and Lorde.
In the U.S., Lana Del Rey is the most streamed woman on Spotify. She beat out No. 2 Beyonce, No. 3 Katy Perry and No. 4, Lorde, for the honor.
When Spotify looked at the habits of male listeners versus female listeners the most popular streamed women rankings changed.
Female listeners around the world streamed Beyonce the most, followed by Katy Perry and Lana Del Rey. Women listeners in the U.S. also streamed Beyonce the most, followed by Lana Del Rey and Katy Perry.
Men also had different results in their favorite artists to stream on Spotify.
Male listeners worldwide streamed Katy Perry the most, followed by Lana Del Rey and Lorde. Male Spotify users in the U.S. streamed Lorde the most, followed by Lana Del Rey and Katy Perry.
Spotify is celebrating International Women's Day with special playlists. Kate Upton will curate a playlist, and so will the duo of Tegan and Sara. Other playlists will also be curated to celebrate Women's History Month which is March.
