Paula Patton and Robin Thicke Divorce News: Actress Says Split Has 'Been Challenging,' But She Can't 'Wallow in Sadness' Because of Son [Watch]
A year after her public split with recording star husband Robin Thicke, Paula Patton tells "Good Morning America" that "everything happens for a reason."
According to Yahoo via "GMA," 39-year-old Patton admitted on the morning show that she's only partly getting by with the help of the couple's four-year-old son. Patton and Thicke had been together since they were teenagers.
"I'm doing really well," the actress and model told "Good Morning America" during a Friday morning appearance on the show. "I mean, the honest truth is, it has been challenging. But it's been a year of growth ... learning about all new things. I feel like everything happens for a reason. And then you have to move on and grow from there."
After 10 years of marriage, according to E! News, Patton publicly split from the "Blurred Lines" crooner nearly a year ago amid rumors of infidelity and constant fighting.
"The thing is, you can't wallow in sadness or stay in bed when you have a child," she added on the show. "And they're so full of life and wonder. And he brings me so much joy."
She later added: "It's easy to dwell on the negative, but usually the positive in your life outweighs that and you have to just be thankful for what you have right now."
Patton recently inked a deal with designer Ellen Tracy to launch her own clothing line.
"It was kind of an amazing blessing," said Patton on the show. "Ellen Tracy came to me and said, 'Would you like to be our brand ambassador?' And I looked at the clothing and -- amazing. It's really well made, classic clothing that's affordable. But what I liked about it was that you could, like, add your own twist to it ... you can make it as edgy or quirky as you want and add your personality to it."
