The Google-branded Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone has been out for a few months now, but a Verizon variant has yet to rear its head. Luckily, it looks like Verizon customers won't have to wait much longer before they can snag the popular phablet.

It was made clear at the Nexus 6's launch that Verizon would be among the carriers that would sell the device. However, as time wore on and all three other major U.S. carriers (AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile) began offering the Nexus 6 through their stores and plans, it became glaringly clear that Verizon was once again taking its time.

A new Phone Arena report provides some relief. According to the report, promotional material for the Nexus 6 has started arriving at some Verizon stores, according to an unnamed Verizon employee who provided Phone Arena with photographic evidence. The packaging simply reads "VZW Merchandising Material" and "Nexus 6 Launch." No other details are provided, except to open the box and hold on to it until launch day.

Adding insult to injury has been the rather sporadic inventory of the Nexus 6, which has made it hard for Verizon customers to even pick up an unlocked model to bring over.

"While the Nexus 6 was well received as a new phone, we had real issues and were unable to secure sufficient inventory to meet the demand that we had forecast," Google's chief financial officer Patrick Pichette said in an earnings call earlier this year.

Which begs the million-dollar question: When will the Nexus 6 actually be available for purchase through Verizon? If the promotional material is authentic (Verizon has not confirmed the existence of a Nexus 6 launch campaign) then at least we can deduce that Verizon hasn't scrapped its plans to sell the Nexus 6 entirely, despite the long delay. Rumors and reports around the technosphere originally hinted at a mid-February release, although it seems more likely now, given the fact it is no longer February, that Verizon is shooting for a March release date.

Various reports point to a March 12 release date, with the aforementioned promotional materials set to go up March 11. When it does release on Verizon, the Nexus 6 is said to come with Android 5.1 Lollipop onboard along with VoLTE support built in. While it doesn't exactly make up for the months-long wait Verizon customers had to endure, at least Nexus 6 buyers won't have to then wait even longer for Verizon to update their phones with the latest firmwares.
