Mortal Kombat X: News, Release Date, Two Classic Characters Coming Back
Mortal Kombat X is adding two familiar characters to the player roster: Johnny Cage and Kenshi, according to Gamespot.
Cage is an original character from the original Mortal Kombat. He and Sonya have a daughter, Cassie Cage, who will also be on the roster. It makes sense that if Cassie Cage is in Mortal Kombat X, Johnny Cage should be too.
Cage was inspired by action actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, according to Cinema Blend. He is a half parody, half replica of Van Damme. Cage joined the fighting scene on Mortal Kombat to prove that he was a good fighter and not just the product of stunts and clever camera work.
Cage proves himself as a great fighter and ended up being one of the most recurring characters in the game.
A video interview with Adam Urabno, a senior producer at NetherRealm Studios confirms that Johnny Cage will included in the game. The interview has now been taken down, but IGN was able to secure some quotes from it.
"You'll get to play as Johnny Cage, but we're also showing Cassie Cage, who is the daughter of Sonya and Johnny," Urbano said. "You'll get a chance to see Kenshi and a chance to see a couple more."
Kenshi is the other character that Urbano confirmed in the interview. Kenshi is a blind fighter who uses telekinesis to dominate his opponents. Kenshi's abilities allow him to inflict damage to his opponents without getting close to them.
Kenshi uses a sword that contains the spirits of past warriors. They guide him when he is in combat. Since he is blind, his other senses are heightened. Kenshi can sense when opponents are coming at him and often catches them by surprise.
Kenshi last appeared in Mortal Kombat (2011) as downloadable content. He wears a bandanna over his blinded eyes.
