HBO Now is finally coming next month, and it will only be available on Apple TV at first, according to The Verge.

"All you need to get HBO Now is a broadband connection and an Apple device," HBO CEO Richard Plepler said.

Viewers will be able to view HBO Now on Internet browsers, but the only streaming box that will be capable of showing HBO Now on a television screen is Apple TV.

HBO Now will cost $14.99 per month, and it will include all of HBO's shows and its large library of movies.

Customers will be given one free month of HBO Now if they sign up from an Apple device in the month of April, Pleper said. That should give the new service a quick subscriber boost.

Customers have waited years for HBO Now to finally be released. Customers have wanted on-demand access to popular HBO shows like "Game of Thrones" and "Girls."

Instead of allowing all companies to stream HBO Now, HBO is choosing to give Apple a three-month exclusive window to offer HBO Now. After the three-month period is over, companies like Comcast and Verizon will be able to offer HBO Now.

An advantage of HBO Now with the Apple exclusivity is the sign-up process will be right through Apple devices. Customers will be able to sign up right from their iPhones, iPads and Apple TV devices.

With the Apple-exclusive announcement, Apple has decided to cut the price of its Apple TV set top boxes to $69. Apple chose not to update the set top boxes but did lower its price from $99, according to MacRumors.
