Ahmad Givens passed away last month at the age of 33 from colon cancer. Givens was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2013. Following his diagnosis, Givens spoke at the 2014 NY National Cultural Markets conference about discovering that he had cancer, People reports.
"I remember I was laying on the hospital bed and the doctor came in crying and when I saw her crying I knew it was something serious," he recalled. "My doctors thought I had, like, three days to live so they just zapped me with chemo. I left out of there with my veins burning and everything."
Givens' cancer was so aggressive that the tumors eventually spread to the left side of his brain and left him partially paralyzed on the right side of his body, says People.
"I had to learn how to walk again and everything," Givens said. "I just have faith in God, man."
Givens also documented his cancer battle on Instagram and posted videos of himself following chemotherapy every few weeks to keep his fans updated.
Givens' last Instagram post was published on Feb. 15. He captioned his photo with a loving message to his brother.
Givens has a son, Madhi, and a wife named Racquel.
