'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 Episode 18 Spoilers: Howard Plans a Dinner to Honor Mrs. Wolowitz in 'The Leftover Thermalization' [Watch]
"The Big Bang Theory" will pay tribute to late actress Carol Ann Susi in Thursday's all-new episode. Meanwhile, a published magazine article co-authored by Sheldon and Leonard will cause jealously and friction between the two.
Several recent episodes of the popular sitcom have paid tribute to Carol Anne Susi, who played the voice role of Howard Wolowitz's nagging mother on the show before she died of cancer last November. However, this week's episode will acknowledge Mrs. Wolowitz's death in a very significant way as the geeky gang gather in her apartment one last time to share a touching meal in her memory.
A preview of the upcoming episode, "The Leftover Thermalization," reveals that the food in Mrs. Wolowitz's refrigerator will thaw out after a power outage. As a result, Howard suggests that he and his friends use the food to cook a meal together.
This may also be the last time that fans will see the set of Mrs. Wolowitz's home since Howard and Bernadette have their own place to live, notes Carter Matt.
The synopsis also suggests that tension will arise between Sheldon and Leonard after their scientific work is featured in a magazine, but only Sheldon receives credit. Either the publisher of the magazine made a mistake by not publishing Leonard's name in the byline or Sheldon decided to take the majority of the credit for the work.
According to The Hollywood Hills, the synopsis reads as follows:
"Friction ensues when a magazine fails to mention Leonard in an article about the paper he co-wrote with Sheldon. Also, a blackout at Mrs. Wolowitz's home leads to a final family dinner in her honor."
Season 8, Episode 18 of "The Big Bang Theory," "The Leftover Thermalization," will air on Thursday, March 12 on CBS.
