Common, Lupita Nyong'o Relationship Rumors: Oscar Winners Reported Manhattan Appearance Sparks Dating Rumors
Rumors are percolating that fellow Academy Award winners Common and Lupita Nyong'o might be an item after they were recently spotted together at the "Big Love" show in Manhattan.
New York radio station Power 105.com reports the hip hop singer and the "12 Years a Slave" star attended the recent performance solo, but soon left together for a night of drinks and candlelight dining.
Nyong'o, who bagged an Oscar for best supporting actress, has previously been romantically linked to A-list actor Jared Leto. Meanwhile, Common was spotted with ex-girlfriend Serena Williams just last month on the night he walked away with a best soundtrack award with John Legend for the song "Glory" heard in the movie "Selma."
The 43-year-old hip hop star has also previously dated singer Erykah Badu and red-hot "Empire" star Taraji P. Henson. Born Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Common broke on the public scene with his 1992 debut album "Can I Borrow A Dollar?"
Nearly two decades later, he launched "Think Common Entertainment," his own record label from which he has released several music projects under such labels as Geffen, GOOD Music and Relativity. Common won a Grammy in 2003 for Best R&B Song for "Love of My Life," which he performed alongside Badu. His first major-album release was his "Like Water for Chocolate" collaboration in 2003.
Two years later, his "Be" compilation was nominated for Best Rap Album of the Year at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Soon after that, he bagged his second Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his collaboration with Kanye West for the album "Finding Forever."
Meanwhile, TMZ reported Common and Williams mugged for at least one photo together at the Vanity Fair After Oscars Party and he readily allowed her to clutch and carry around his award for much of the night.
