President Barack Obama Visits 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!': Watch Obama Read 'Mean Tweets' About Himself, Joke that Congress Is Meaner
President Barack Obama showed off his light-hearted side and good humor during his appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Thursday night.
The president kicked off the interview by participating in Kimmel's "Mean Tweets" segment where celebrities read a select list of hostile posts written about them on Twitter.
"I think it's important to remember that presidents are people, too, and from time to time we give celebrities the chance to read some of the mean things people tweet about them. Tonight, we extended that same courtesy to our commander-in-chief," said talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, while introducing the President Obama Edition of "Mean Tweets."
The camera then cut to the POTUS, who began by reading a tweet posted by @carold501 that stated: "Obama's hair is looking grayer these days. Can't imagine why since he doesn't seem to be one bit worried about all that's going on."
He then read a tweet from @RWSurferGirl, which said: "Is there any way we could fly Obama to some gold course halfway around the world and just leave him there."
In response, he quipped, "Well, @RWSurferGirl, I think that's a great idea."
Another tweet said: "A 30 rack of coors light is $23 now at Sun Stop. Thanks, Obama," while someone else tweeted: "How do you make Obama's eyes light up? Shine a flashlight in his ears."
"That's pretty good," Obama replied with a chuckle.
During his interview, the president told Kimmel that the tweets he read were nothing like the mean things that are said about him in Congress.
"I have to say, though, those weren't that mean. I've got to tell you, you should see the ones the Senate sends about me," joked Obama.
Thursday's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" marked Obama's second interview on the show, but his first appearance as a sitting president. He first appeared on the show via satellite in June 2008 during his first campaign run.
