OSU Student With Same Name As Expelled OU Fraternity Member Being Called a Liar, Insulted for His Looks
Parker Rice at Oklahoma State University is not the Parker Rice who was expelled from University of Oklahama for participating in a racist chant. But he's receiving hate comments and messages on his social media accounts thanks to the coincidence, according to KERA News.
Monday morning, Rice's roommate woke him up and told him to check his phone. More than 500 comments were on his Instagram account, and 50 private messages were sent to his Facebook inbox.
He even received calls from friends, family and the media. The messages were not intended for him, though: They were intended for the now expelled Parker Rice from UO.
This Parker Rice is also in a fraternity at OSU. He is a member of Alpha Phi Omega and likes to keep to himself. Oklahoma University is in Norman, and it just so happens that the Parker Rice from OSU is originally from Norman as well. That might be why so many people were sending messages to him.
Rice knows the comments are not meant for him since he hasn't done anything, but he is still concerned about them.
"My first thought was that someone hacked my account," he said.
"Initially, it was kind of scary, to not know what I did to bring all of this hate to myself. It's definitely been stressful. But I guess I take a lighter view of the comments, and be happy it's not directed at me," he added.
Strangers are calling this Parker Rice a liar, saying he is the one behind the racist comments caught on tape by the now-expelled Parker Rice over at UO. They say he is pretending to be someone else.
Other commenters have called him pathetic and ugly.
Some people have realized Rice is not lying, and he is not the one on which they should be pushing their frustrations. Those people have apologized. Others still insist it is him in the video though.
