President Obama was at his favorite ATM on Tuesday night - New York City.

The president attended a fundraiser hosted by super couple Jay Z and wife Beyonce Jay Z's 40/40 club.

The  couple raised $4 million for the president's reelection campaign. One hundred guests were invited to the star studded event and each payed $40,000 to attend.

When the president took to the podium, he thanked the couple for there friendship.

"We are so grateful," Obama said. "Michelle and Malia and Sasha are mad at me because they are not here. That doesn't usually happen. Usually they're like, we're glad you're going -- we don't need to go. But every time they get a chance to see these two they are thrilled, partly because they are just both so generous, particularly to my kids. And Malia and Sasha just love both of them."

The president also praised the couple for being a role model for his children.

"Beyoncé couldn't be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent," Obama said. "And Jay-Z now knows what my life is like. We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are. So we've got a little bond there.  It's hard, but it's okay. It's okay."

"This has become a big year for my husband and me:  We became parents.  Now that we have more than our own future to worry about, the stakes in the election are even higher," Beyonce said in an email to supporters last week.

Obama pleaded with attendees to renew his contract in the White House.

"We're on the brink of an election, but more importantly, we're on the brink of moving America in a direction in which we're going to be more just, more fair, the economy is going to grow in a way that includes everybody -- an America that's respected around the world because we are putting forward our best values and our best ideals. And you're a part of that. Being here tonight, you're a part of that. You're a part of us trying to make some more history. And we've made history in the past; we're going to make some more history over the next seven weeks as long as you guys are ready to keep going with me. All right?"

Jay-Z and Beyonce performed at a tribute concert honoring Obama the night before he took his oath of office.

Beyonce performed "At Last" at the inaugural ball.
