Kanye West Hot New 'So Help Me God' Album Release 2015: Yeezy Reveals His Upcoming Music Is Inspired by Drake [Watch]
While fans are anxiously awaiting his seventh studio album "So Help Me God," Kanye West revealed his upcoming music is inspired by none other than fellow rapper, Drake.
In a recent interview with Paris' Clique TV, the Chicago emcee first compared his endeavor and achievement to Michael Jordan's.
"I've grown, I've gone to the gym like Michael Jordan when he was winning his championships," he said. "He was going to the gym to get stronger to go up against the Pistons and teams like that. I'm going against major hitmakers."
Yeezy previously collaborated with Drizzy on his protégé Big Sean's "Dark Sky Paradise" track "Blessings." Although he did not reveal much about his forthcoming record, he did admit his competition with the Toronto rapper in hip-hop motivated him to make better music.
"I look at Drake as an amazing sparring partner," West said. "Someone who's like, 'Come on, man, get back up!' Bow! 'Get back up! What's up, bro? What you doing?'"
"I was sitting there getting fat. Sitting back, just knocked everybody out. And then this guy hits the gym, he's just running around like, bow, 14 hits, same as Paul McCartney," he continued. "I'm like, 'Whoa. OK. Let me go to the studio, then. Let's see what's happening. Let me get these lyrics up. Let me see what's happening.' So, that's where we at right now, that's where you getting these records from."
The "All Day" rapper then elaborated more on the importance of competition in every aspect from music to fashion.
"I think healthy competition is better than rivalry," he added. "I think rivalry becomes a cancer; it becomes like termites in your health. I think healthy competition is something where you appreciate how hard this person goes."
