Gisele Bundchen Announces She’s Retiring From the Runway
This week, supermodel, Gisele Bundchen announced her decision to retire from walking on the runway.
Brazilian news outlet, Moda Estadão, was the first to report Bundchen's retirement. Bundchen will conclude her runway career next month following her appearance at the Colcci show during São Paulo Fashion Week.
Bundchen wanted to conclude her runway career in her native Brazil since she first began her career in a Brazilian fashion show.
And though Bundchen plans to stop her runway modeling next month, she still intends to model in fashion campaigns and spreads, says E! news.
Bundchen is considered to be the highest paid model in the fashion industry and has held that title for eight years in a row.
She is married to NFL player Tom Brady, and they have two kids, Benjamin and Vivian. She is also a stepmother to Brady's child, Jack.
News of Bundchen's retirement comes on the heels of her fellow Victoria's Secret Angels, Karlie Kloss, announcing her decision to trade in her wings for a college degree.
Last month, the New York Post reported that Kloss and her venture capitalist boyfriend Joshua Kushner made the decision to not renew her VS contract so she could pursue her education full-time at New York University.
Kloss will begin classes this fall at NYU's Gallatin school. And though she plans to commit to her education, Kloss is still involved in several modeling campaigns for different companies, including Nike, L'Oréal Paris, Joe Fresh and Kate Spade.
Ed Razek, Victoria's Secret's chief marketing officer and fashion show executive producer, recently opened up about Kloss' departure on Instagram.
Razek said after having a candid sit-down discussion with Kloss about her future, they both agreed she would not have time to commit to her modeling contract with VS in addition to her other endeavors.
