An arrest has been made in the disappearance of Food Network contestant Cristie Schoen Codd and her husband in North Carolina, Fox News reports.

A North Carolina man has been charged with the murder of Codd and her husband Joseph Codd. The couple was reported missing Sunday when they failed to show up for their duties in new upcoming movies they were set to work on.

Robert Jason Owens was charged with two counts of felony first-degree murder, one count of murder of an unborn child, breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering.

Cristie Codd was a competitor on the eighth season of the Food Network show "Food Network Star." Her husband Joseph was a Hollywood grip and had worked on the HBO series "Carnivale."

Cristie was five months pregnant when she was reported as missing. Deputies responded to the call and found the couple's vehicles and pets at their home, but the couple was nowhere to be found, Fox Carolina reports.

Police taped off the area surrounding Owens' home and searched through his home looking for evidence. Owens' home is about a half mile from where the Codds lived.

Police took Owens into custody and confirmed on Tuesday that he was charged in connection with the murder. Deputies have not yet released a motive for the killings. The condition of the remains of the couple has not been released yet.

The Buncombe County Medical Examiner Dr. Sharon Swede said that the remains of the couple has been sent to the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, but no positive identification had been made yet. Swede said that an exam has been scheduled for Thursday and the office hopes to know more about the remains by then.

If convicted of the murders, Owens could face the death sentence or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
