With a show like ABC’s “Once Upon A Time,” which started out as a set of fairy tale characters maneuvering about in a contemporary New England world with some kind of amnesia curse, you’d think there wouldn’t be too many surprises.

But dark episode after dark episode has kept fans of updated Evil Queen-type stories guessing.

Last week’s episode “Enter the Dragon” even brought Maleficent, everybody’s favorite serpent lady scorned, back from the dirt to try to exact some revenge.

As reported by Spoilers Guide, the upcoming show entitled "Poor Unfortunate Soul" promises to complicate matters for the beloved cast of Disney characters come to postmodern life.

In the epsiode, Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) will try to exploit his complicated and criminal past with Ursula (Merrin Dungey) in order to find out all she knows about Mr. Gold’s endgame.

Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) and the collective Queens of Darkness will torture August (Eion Baieley) for information about the mysterious figure of the Author.

While this happens, Regina (Lana Parrilla) grows concerned for the well-being of Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and engages herself is a struggle to maintain her cover with the other villains.

Actress Lana Parrilla has described the character she plays as always keeping her on her toes.

In an interview in After Ellen, she talks up Regina’s appeal, saying: “She is a very complex character, she is constantly surprising me. I love how she has this sort of fervent desire for change and growth, and she’s not content.”

Parilla goes onto say that “I think what I love about her is that she’s constantly searching for growth, and that’s a beautiful quality in any human being, and to be able to see that in a fictional television character is even more compelling, at least for me to play. It’s entertaining as well, extremely entertaining.”

The new episode airs on March 22.
