Following the disappearance of Annika from the hotel, Episode 3 could be shifting toward this story line. However, it could also focus on the relationship between Norman and Emma.

According to an official synopsis obtained by Spoiler TV, the following episode of “Bates Motel” will be titled “Persuasion” and may be switching focus.

“Norman’s relationship with Emma weakens his bond with Norma; Romero asks Norman some hard questions,” the synopsis explains.

Another hint supporting the synopsis could be the release of a brief video showing the burgeoning relationship between Norman (Freddie Highmore) and Emma (Olivia Cooke).

A&E, which airs “Bates Motel,” released the video a day after the second episode aired.

However, Norman is not out of the woods. The synopsis hints that Norman may have problems with his mother (Vera Farmiga) due to his relationship with Emma. Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) may also begin prodding him about the disappearance of his teach, Miss Watson (Keegan Connor Tracy).

Emma also revealed in the second episode that Norman was the last person seen with Annika (Tracy Spiridakos). Could he have killed her? Norma, after finding out Norman was the last seen with her guest, told Romero so it could be very possible that he questions him about it.

The episode ended with an unidentified woman being seen floating in the water. If it is Annika’s body, then people will wonder who killed her. If it’s not hers, who could it be?

The show’s producers have already warned the audience to expect the worst.

"I think that you should always assume the worst because it is Bates Motel," executive producer Kerry Ehrin told TV Guide. There's no reliable narrator and the audience often has to interpret or project what they think something is. The ending was very much designed for that."

What do you think happened to Annika and how do you think this season will turn out?
