Mortal Kombat X: Rage Quitters Will Be Punished, New Character Confirmed [Watch]
Those who choose to leave a Mortal Kombat X fight without completing it will be punished. So-called rage quitters who get frustrated when they are losing and leave a fight before it is completed will allow their opponent to earn a "quitality," Eurogamer reported.
A quitality is designed to prevent Mortal Kombat X online players from leaving a fight without completing it. If someone leaves an online match before it is completed, their opponent will receive a quitality. A quitality gives the opponent who stuck with the game a flawless victory, meaning no damage was incurred and the quitting player's head gets blown up.
A flawless victory in Mortal Kombat games means the character defeated their opponent without being touched once -- their health meter was full. This type of victory is a more powerful victory and might give more online points or a ranking boost.
"It's really more [about] making the winner look better," NetherRealm developer Derek Kirtzic said, according to Polygon.
Here is the trailer for a quitality.
The Kombat Pack's description on the Xbox Games Store mentions Jason Vorhees (Jason from "Friday the 13th") and Predator will be included in the pack. Two additional "Klassic" Mortal Kombat characters will also be included.
The Premium Edition of the Kombat Pack will provide early access to these four additional characters.
Mortal Kombat X hinted at five rumored fighters that might make it into the game during Thursdays live demo stream of the game, IGN reports.
The moves of Stryker Assist, Smoke Assist, Rain Assist, Kabal Blades and Cyrax Bombs all appeared in the list of modifiers during the live stream. Stryker, Smoke, Rain, Kabal and Cyrax have not been confirmed for the game though. These moves might allow fighters to temporarily call one of these characters to help them when they are in trouble in a fight to "assist them."
Mortal Kombat X will be released April 14.
