Former Playboy bunny Holly Madison is releasing a memoir titled, "Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny," detailing her struggles living inside of the notorious Playboy mansion with her then boyfriend, Hugh Hefner, Us Weekly reports.

In the book, Madison writes that life inside the mansion was not as glamorous and fun as it appeared to be. She claims that the mansion was filled with "drama, darkness and even depression."

According to Madison, she was required to abide by Hefner's "oppressive routine of strict rules" and "manipulation." Madison also recalls having to deal with "backstabbing bunnies" and other playmates.

"Life inside the notorious Mansion wasn't a dream at all -- and quickly became her nightmare," the press release for Madison's memoir reads. "After losing her identity, her sense of self-worth, and her hope for the future, Holly found herself sitting alone in a bathtub contemplating suicide."

When asked to discuss her new memoir, Madison told Us Weekly, "I'm excited to finally share my story and what I've learned from my personal experiences both inside and outside of the Playboy Mansion. I think my stories will surprise people and I'm looking forward to lifting the veil of mystique and clearing up the misconceptions so often associated with my life."

CNN reports that other playmates such as Kimberley Conrad have also described Hugh Hefner and the playboy mansion as a negative place. Conrad previously described Hefner as "very controlling."

Madison, who is currently married to Pasquale Rotella, rose to fame in 2005 alongside playmates, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson. The three girls starred in the E! reality series, "The Girls Next Door," for five seasons until 2010, Us Weekly reports.

Holly Madison's "Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny" hits stores on June 23. The memoir is currently available for pre-order.
