In an interview with Allure, "Dancing With the Stars" judge Julianne Hough addressed the time she wore blackface as part of her Halloween costume to emulate Crazy Eyes, the "Orange is the New Black" character played by Uzo Aduba, Us Weekly reports.

Though Hough apologized back in 2013, she offered up another apology during her Allure interview and described her decision to wear blackface as dumb.

"Ignorance is sometimes not bliss; I really had no idea what I was doing, and it was all out of fun and respect for the character," Hough told Allure. "I don't even know how to talk about it because it's such a sensitive topic. It makes me so sad to think that I was that dumb. I learned a big lesson."

E! news notes that after stepping out in blackface in 2013, Hough was slammed by many critics and celebrities including Wendy Williams and Laverne Cox.

Uzo Aduba even chimed in on the scandal and accepted Hough's Twitter apology.

"I think maybe it was an unfortunate event, but she apologized and I feel like we can all move on," Aduba told E! News.

Meanwhile Hough's brother, Derek defended his sister amid the backlash.

"She's my little baby sister and she's the sweetest thing ever," Derek told E! at the time. "She is just beyond beside herself."

And though she previously offended people with her Halloween, Julianne is now partnering with the Kind Campaign that aims to stop bullying, Yahoo! Celebrity reports.

Julianne revealed that she relates to the campaign because she struggled with bullying as a child.

"I was bullied in high school," Hough said, adding that she and her few friends were called "the Ishes," because they were Mormon.

"Instead of saying, 'That's the sh*t,' we'd be like, 'That's the ish," said Hough.

Julianne's full interview with Allure hits newsstands on March 31.
