The National Basketball Association has been one of the most diverse sports leagues in the United States in recent years, and it's only growing, with their eyes on the coveted Latino market--and their newest deal could help them reach that targeted audience.

According to multiple reports, the NBA has reached a new multi-year partnership with Univision Deportes.

Univision Deportes is the sports division of Univision Communications, a Hispanic media company that was founded in 1992. It is also reported that Univision Deportes, a channel dedicated to sports content in Spanish language, will air the show "NBA Action." That is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 26.

In addition, "Zona NBA" is a one-hour weekly show that is dedicated to the Hispanic fan base with broadcats from around the league. It's somewhat comparable to the ESPN television show "NBA Countdown." That show will be a one-hour long telecast, and is scheduled to begin during the 2015 playoffs via Unimas.

The NBA has made large strides to celebrate and honor Hispanic growth in the league and reach out to their fans. The NBA is presently celebrating their annual enebea marketing campaign by reaching out to Hispanic fans with their Noches Ene-Be-A campaign. Multiple teams across the league have taken part in wearing Spanish read jerseys. The NBA's popularity within the Hispanic community has been rising in the 21st century very much to said efforts.

The league has reported that 18 percent of the NBA's fan base is Hispanic.

"We are proud to partner with the NBA to deliver high quality, customized content to Hispanic basketball fans. This new multi-platform deal underscores our commitment to creating relevant and engaging content focused on the sports, leagues and teams that Hispanics care about most," said Juan Carlos Rodriguez, president of Univision Deportes.

The NBA has been one of the leading sports leagues in the United States for Hispanic viewers because of the high-profile names attached with the league. Players such as Manu Ginobili, Tiago Splitter, Nene, Leandro Barbosa, Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol and Ricky Rubio are some of the most notable Latino players in the league today.

"There is a deep connection with Latino players. Hispanic fans identify with these fans," said Aldo DiCuffa, the NBA’s senior vice president of programming.
