Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Cast News: One of Film's Last Roles Filled by Dylan Neal
The Fifty Shades of Grey family is getting bigger. Today, the studio announced the cast's newest member, Dylan Neal.
Universal Pictures has confirmed that Neal has been cast as Bob Adams. Bob is the stepfather of Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson, and the husband of Carla Adams, played by Jennifer Ehle.
Neal can currently be seen on two television series. The Canadian actor currently stars opposite Andie MacDowell in The Hallmark Channel's "Cedar Grove" as Jack Griffith. Some may also recognize Neal, 44, from his portrayal of Dr. Anthony Ivo on The CW's "Arrow."
Yesterday, another one of the film's leads also received a parent. Marcia Gay Harden was cast as Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, the adopted mother of Christian Grey, played by Jamie Dornan, as well as his siblings, Mia Grey, played by British singer-songwriter Rita Ora, and Elliot Grey, played by Luke Grimes.
A couple more of the film's roles remain open, such as Elena Lincoln, also known as Mrs. Robinson. Elena is an old friend and business partner of Christian and the origin of Christian's S&M obsession. She taught Christian about chains and whips when he was just 15-years-old.
Whoever is cast as Elena will join a Fifty Shades of Grey cast that is looking more solid since the departure of Charlie Hunnam as Christian on Oct. 12. Max Martini joined the cast as Jason Taylor, Christian's bodyguard. Eloise Mumford will play Kate Kavanagh, Anastasia's roommate. Meanwhile, Victor Rasuk has been cast as Jose, a photographer who dreams of making romantic Kodak moments with Anastasia.
Sam Taylor-Johnson is the director of the Focus Features and Universal Pictures movie. Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and E.L. James, the author of the erotic novel from which the movie is based, are producers.
Production for the film began on Monday in Vancouver, Canada. (The Fifty Shades of Grey novel takes place just south of Seattle, Washington.) Various photos snapped by paparazzi showed Dornan dressed in true Christian Grey style, like the kinky, wealthy, sex fiend he is. The "Once Upon a Time" actor was seen in a black three-piece suit with a flashy timepiece on his wrist. Meanwhile, Johnson morphed into Anastasia Steele. The 21 Jump Street actress wore an army-green denim jacket, fashionable scarves and, of course, her newly brunette hair.
Fifty Shades of Grey will be released just in time for Valentine's Day on Feb. 13, 2015.
