'Hawaii Five-0' Season 5 Episode 20 Spoilers: Grover Learns His Friend Watched His Wife Fall to Her Death, Danny and Dr. Shaw Are Trapped in an Elevator [Watch]
For a show that is basically a “CSI”-styled reboot of a disco area cop show classic, “Hawaii Five-0” has done pretty well for itself.
Now in its fifth season, the action-packed show has one of its main characters grappling with his intuition.
In the episode “Ike Hānau,” which is Hawaiian for "Instinct," Grover (Chi McBride) is informed by his oldest and closest friend that he witnessed his wife fall off a cliff to her death. And Danny and Dr. Shaw end up trapped in an elevator with a dead body.
As reported in Spoilers Guide, Grover’s instinct tells him the death was no accident.
In an interview with TV Fanatic, McBride speaks about his role in bringing to life a character that was part of the original series.
“Captain Lou Grover was a SWAT commander back on the old Jack Lord series and now [Exec Producer] Peter Lenkov is really trying to stay as true to some of the mythology as possible and part of that is bringing back some of these characters that the first generation that watched Hawaii Five-0 would remember and then introducing these characters and the history of this character to a new generation who is watching Hawaii Five-0 so it’s cool.”
Nothing is certain in Hollywood, but McBride, who has starred in such lauded but eventually cancelled shows like "Boston Public" and "Pushing Daisies," has a grounded attitude about the work he gets to do.
“If you don’t understand the concept that things end, you are going to be doing a lot of drinking and snorting cocaine. You know what I mean? It truly is what it is,” said McBride.
The new episode of “Hawaii Five-0” airs April 3 on CBS.
