'Orphan Black' Season 3 News & Spoilers: Cosima Will Have a New Journey After Near-Death Experience, Clothing Line Based on Show to Be Released in April
Fans of BBC America's science fiction hit "Orphan Black" are anxiously awaiting the April 18 return of the show as tidbits about what is going to happen in the third season are making their way around the media.
For Cosima Niehaus, "this season will really be focused ... on the nature of science (versus) faith," executive producer John Fawcett told Entertainment Weekly.
"The interesting thing about Cosima is she came very close to dying and that wasn't something that we took lightly," he said. "That wasn't something that we did to try and scare the audience, that really was the beginning of a new journey for Cosima in Season 3," Fawcett added.
The bisexual graduate student studying "evo-devo" biology has come that close to death, and the experience has marked her as she does not fully understand what happened, the producer explained.
"It puts this character, who is so entrenched in the science, in this place where she's now looking for answers beyond science," Fawcett added.
While matters of science and faith are sure to keep fans hooked on "Orphan Black," many also appreciate the show's unique design and aesthetics -- particularly when it comes to its characters' fashion choices.
Those who would like to dress like a clone in real life now have that option: Hot Topic. The American retail chain specializing in music and alternative culture is set to release a new collection inspired by the series, Variety reported.
The clothing line will available in stores starting April 13, through online pre-sale kick off as early as March 24. The collection features designs based on the four main clone characters played by Tatiana Maslany -- Niehaus, Sarah Manning, Alison Hendrix and Helena. Items include a $14.50 Cosima scarf and a $49.50 Helena jacket, the magazine detailed.
The Hot Topic designers worked with Temple Street Productions -- the company in charge of producing the series -- "to get the styles just right so that the program's most devoted fans may have something to wear to celebrate its return," Paste magazine noted.
Fashionistas, meanwhile, may hope to hear compliments such as "Damn, she looks good," which, according to E! Online, will also be one of signature lines of Season 3's first episode.
