X Factor USA Season 3 Episode 22 Results & Recap: Two Girls Eliminated, Not Diva Enough?
The X Factor Top 6 performance covered two 'genres' - Divas and Unplugged music- and with two contestants eliminated, it's clear that America and the mentors thought two of them fell short of diva talent.
It's down to the final four talents as two girls are eliminated in the X Factor USA Results show (take a peek here), with erstwhile judge Simon Cowell dedicating the episode to the late African leader, Nelson Mandela. The first elimination for the night stunned fans at home, as Ellona Santiago was declared to get the boot. Her cover of Lady Gaga's "Applause" and Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" was not diva-ish enough to get her to stay on the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Mentor Demi Lovato expressed her disappointment over Santiago's ouster, exclaiming "this is ridiculous," according to the Gossip Cop.
Meanwhile, Digital Spy reports that Rion Paige is the last act to get eliminated from the show, after once again landing on the bottom three. The teenager went head to head with Carlito Olivero, and three of the four judges opted to save the teenage Latino crooner, even when Demi Lovato sang high praises for Paige. The blonde teen could have been saved by Simon Cowell, but the brutally honest Brit chose Olivero instead. After the show, Cowell defended his decision saying that, "I didn't think she could win. She's 13 or 14 years old and she's got a long way ahead of her and she'll be remembered; I thought that with Carlito, if you look at his background, how hard he tries the underdog, I just kind of felt that maybe he deserves that extra shot."
X Factor alum Emblem 3 provided good musical entertainment for the night with their performance of "Just For One Day," while guest stars Little Mix, X Factor- U.K. winners, rocked the stage with their performance of "Move."
The top 4 finalists include the newly-saved Carlito Olivero, predicted winner Jeff Gutt, ladies' favourite Restless Road and powerhouse duo Alex & Sierra.
