Billboard Latin Music Conference: Carlos Santana Will Participate in Q&A; Romeo Santos, Luis Coronel & J Balvin to Also Attend
Carlos Santana has been added to the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Conference as a confirmed speaker. Santana will sit down with Billboard's Leila Cobo April 29 to discuss his 40-plus years in the music industry, Billboard reports.
Santana will participate in an open Q&A session. The audience will get an opportunity to learn all about Santana and his journey to stardom. They will learn about his beginnings in Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, Mexico, as well as his teenage years in San Francisco's Mission District, his rise to fame, selling out arenas and reaching more than 100 million fans.
"One of the great guitarists, Carlos' style is so identifiable and relevant to pop culture; his influence is seen in varying music genres worldwide," says Cobo. "There is no better way to end the Billboard Latin Music Conference and kick off the Awards than with this incomparable artist."
The Billboard Latin Music Conference runs April 27-30 at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach in Miami, Florida. Santana's "Legends" session will end most of the events at the conference.
CNN Español host Ismael Cala will start off the conference with the opening keynote. Bachata singer Romeo Santos will also take part in a Q&A session. Other events and panels will include some of Latin music's biggest names like J Balvin, Ivy Queen, Luis Coronel, Nicky Jam, Kevin Ortiz and Jorge Valenzuela.
Santana has said he is scared to ride a bicycle after "his brother Bono" injured himself cycling last year. The U2 rocker broke his arm in six places in an accident in New York, Malay Mail reports.
Santana's wife bought him a bike so that he could ride around in Las Vegas.
"My wife, Cindy, just got me a bicycle. I'm leery about trying that after what happened to brother Bono, but she said that was different because it happened in Central Park," Santana said.
"In the desert you might hit a coyote, but that's it."
