McDonald's Breakfast Hours: Fast Food Chain Plans to Test All-Day Breakfast Menu in San Diego
There's good news for breakfast lovers on the West Coast: Starting in April, McDonald's will begin serving breakfast all day long at select restaurants in the San Diego area.
The fast food chain announced its plans to extend its breakfast menu, which currently runs until 10:30 a.m., with limited breakfast items. However, the company has yet to reveal which of its signature breakfast foods other than hash browns will be available to customers around the clock during this test run.
"We look forward to learning from this test, and it's premature to speculate on any outcomes. We're excited to serve our customers in this area some of McDonald's great-tasting breakfast sandwiches, hash browns and other favorites all day long," said McDonald's, the world's largest restaurant chain, in a statement to USA TODAY.
Previously, company officials explained that McDonald's had to maintain limited breakfast hours due to the tight kitchen spaces inside of the restaurants. Back in February, McDonald's also posted a tweet saying it doesn't serve breakfast all day because its grills "just aren't big enough for breakfast and lunch," reports CBS DC.
However, later on that month, Jeff Stratton, the head of McDonald's USA, stated that the company was exploring how it could make breakfast available later in the day during an interview with The Associated Press.
The initiative to give customers the opportunity to order breakfast outside of normal hours is part of the chain's effort to entice customers who increasingly want foods personalized to their own tastes and schedules.
"Having those breakfast items available to sell all day would also serve as a reminder to customers (and the media. and Wall Street.) that McDonald's does indeed have craveable food to sell," wrote Janney Capital Markets analyst Mark Kalinowski in a note published on Monday, before McDonald's confirmed the report about its breakfast test run.
McDonald's also said that it was too early to speculate on the outcome from the test.
