Nintendo Direct provided updates and things for gamers to look forward to from the gaming giant. Announced Wednesday at the event was news on Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8 and more, IGN reports.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was a huge hit. Now, downloadable content (DLC) will become available for the game, making more characters available. Mewtwo from Pokemon is one of the first characters that will be made available on Super Smash Bros. for both the Wii U and 3DS. If a gamer has the game on both platforms and registered it with Club Nintendo before March 31, they will get a download code for the game April 15. Those who did not register will be able to buy Mewtwo for $3.99 for one platform or $4.99 for both platforms, IGN reports.

Another character, Lucas from Mother 3, will be added to the character roster in June.

An exciting way for gamers to get a personalized fighting experience will be through Mii fighter costumes. Gamers will be able to buy costumes for their Mii fighters for $0.75 for one platform and $1.15 for both platforms. Costumes like Majora's Mask, Link's Outfit and X's Armor (Mega Man) can be purchased.

Nintendo is currently surveying customers on which character they want added to Smash Bros. next. The survey will ask gamers to submit their choices along with a reason why they want that character in the game.

Coming soon for the Wii U will be an updated virtual console. This means Nintendo 64 and DS games will be available for download to the Wii U.

Nintendo 64 games will cost between $9.99 and $12.99 while Nintendo DS games will cost between $6.99 and $9.99.

Wednesday, Super Mario 64 (N64) and Yoshi's Island DS (DS) became available for download.

April 9, Yoshi's Touch & Go (DS) and WarioWare Touched (DS) will become available.

April 16, Donkey Kong 64 (N64) will become available.

April 23, Mario Kart DS (DS) will become available.

April 30, Paper Mario (N64) will become available.

Mario Kart 8 will be getting some DLC as well. The DLC pack will be called the Animal Crossing DLC. The DLC will include new playable characters, karts and courses. The DLC will be available April 23.

Nintendo also will add a special 200cc mode for Mario Kart 8 as part of the April 23 DLC.
