In court documents released today, the pregnant girlfriend of Florida "neighborhood watchman" George Zimmerman wants the protective order against him lifted, and she wants all charges against him dropped.

CNN is reporting that Samantha Scheibe has requested that the protective order be lifted against Zimmerman "so we can talk and be together." She further goes on to say: "I am not afraid of George in any manner, and I want to be with him."

This is a very different story than the one she told last month: according to the initial report filed with the police, Scheibe said that after an argument, Zimmerman broke a table with a shotgun and then pointed it at her "for a minute." Subsequently, Zimmerman was arrested at the couple's home.

According to Fox News, Zimmerman's Miami-based lawyer, Jayne Weintraub, feels that the entire case against her client should be dropped in light of the new statement by Scheibe, which was released in a sworn affidavit. "I'm hoping that the prosecutors will take a good hard look at this and take the target off of George's back and drop the charges," Weintraub said. She said a hearing will be scheduled in the near future to discuss the motion and affidavit. In addition, Weintraub said that her client "walks around with a target on his back" because he was acquitted of second-degree murder in the slaughter of Trayvon Martin five months prior.

"I do not want George Zimmerman charged," Scheibe further wrote. "I make this decision freely, knowingly and voluntarily, without any intimidation or undue influences."

Lynne Bumpus Hooper, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney's Office, said prosecutors haven't decided yet whether to file charges in the case. Hooper said that a number of factors determine whether a prosecutor chooses to go forward with a case, but that the victim's statement and/or failure to cooperate are certainly amongst the factors considered.
