Chaka Khan, R&B legend and close friend of Whitney Houston, admits she felt all the pain of experiencing her death all over again after her daughter suffered a similar life-threatening ordeal.

The only daughter born to Houston and Bobby Brown remains in a medical induced coma after being found unresponsive in the bathtub of the Georgia home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon in late January.

Bobbi Kristina's comatose body was found almost three years to the day after her mother's dead body was pulled from the bathtub of the Beverly Hills hotel where she was staying. Investigators have since ruled Whitney Houston had drugs in her system at the time of her death.

Pained as she is by all the similarities of their fates, Khan sadly admits that she isn't too surprised by them.

"I can't say I was shocked," the 62-year-old soulful diva told The Mirror UK. "But I was definitely hurt and disappointed."

Since 22-year-old Brown has been hospitalized, police have opened a criminal investigation into the circumstance surrounding her condition after finding several unexplained bruises on her body. Reportedly, the probe targets Gordon as the primary suspect and he has since checked himself into a drug treatment facility. Before then, Bobbi Kristina's family members had refused to allow him to visit her.

"I've been in conversation with the family," Khan told the paper. "Everyone's devastated, everyone. I love Bobbi Kristina, I love Whitney, I love Bobby Brown. I love Cissy -- I love them all. But we just have to wait for what happens next. All I want to do is be there for them. I just need to pray."

Khan is legendary for such hit songs as "Every Woman," "I Feel for You," "You Got the Love," "Once You Get Started" and "Sweet Love."
