Sony's next smartphone, the successor to the Xperia Z3, will debut sometime this year, likely in the summer. The Xperia Z4 will improve several of its predecessor's features, Tech Radar reports.

Potential buyers of the Xperia Z4 can expect to pay a high price tag. This will be Sony's flagship smartphone so it will command premium price. The Xperia Z3 started out selling at about $630 in the U.S. It is likely that the Xperia Z4 will sell for around that same price. Carriers offering upgrades and two-year contract prices will bring this price down.

Rumors have suggested that there could be two separate designs for the new Xperia Z4. One of the handsets will have a 1080 x 1920 full high definition screen. The other handset would offer a much higher 1440 x 2560 resolution (QHD). The QHD version would cost more than the 1080p version.

The Xperia Z4 could go several different ways with the screen size. The Xperia Z3 had a 5.2 inch screen. The Xperia Z4 could have a screen as large as a 5.5 inches, but it is more likely to retain the 5.2 inch display.

The Sony Xperia Z4 might also be powered by the Snapdragon 810 processor. Expect 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The battery inside the Xperia Z4 will be 3240mAh, slightly better than the Xperia Z3 that had a 3100mAh battery.

The Xperia Z4 is set to have an Android operating system with Sony customization. Since the Xperia Z4 will come out in a few months, Android 5.0 Lollipop will likely be preinstalled on the devices.

The Xperia Z3 already had an excellent camera, a 20.7 megapixel shooter. The Xperia Z4 will likely have the same 20.7MP camera, but with a new sensor. The new sensor will make the camera capable of taking in more light. The front-facing camera will likely be 4.8 MP.
