You've had your iPhone 4S for a little under a year and Apple has decided to come out with the iPhone 5. But does the iPhone 5 makes the 4S a thing of the past?

The iPhone 5 features an A6 processor, which is faster than the 4S' A5 processor. Both phones are available over AT&T, Sprint and Verizon's networks.

The iPhone 5 comes with a taller screen - 4.87 inches - compared with the $s" 4.5 inches. The iPhone 5 is also lighter, weighing just 3.95 ounces to the 4S' 4.9 ounces. The 5 features a 4-inch retina display while the 4S has a 3.5-inch retina dispaly. The new iPhone is clearer with a 1134 X 640 resolution. The iPhone 4S has a 960 X 640 resolution.

Apple made available its iOS6 to users who did not want to buy the iPhone 5.

Under the iOS6, Apple has redesigned its Maps app from the ground; Siri understands more languages and works in more countries; Facebook has been completely integrated through iOS; FaceTime now works over cellular networks as well as Wi-Fi; new calling features have been added; Mail lets you set up a VIP list so you'll never miss an important message; the new panorama feature lets you capture everything with one simple motion.

The biggest difference users will notice is the iPhone 5's new charging port.

The iPhone 5 features the new Lightning connector that is "smaller, smarter and more durable than the previous connector." The all-digital Lightning connector is reversible so you can instantly connect to your accessories. All other Apple devices feature a 30-pin connector.

The iPhone 5 features up to 8 hours on 3G and up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi compared to up to 6 hours on 3G and up to 9 hours on Wi-Fi on the 4S.

The iPhone 5 costs, at its lowest, $199 with a two year contract. The iPhone 4S has dropped to $99 with a contract.
