Mats Hummels is continuously being linked to a move to Manchester United, but Borussia Dortmund are still determined to keep their veteran defender.

According to Sunday World, Manchester United are confident that they will reach a deal to acquire Hummels this summer. The Red Devils, who have been linked to Hummels since last year, are reportedly prepared to pay £35 million to get the 26-year-old defender.

Hummels said last weekend that he might move to another club soon. He added that his plans will be clearer in the coming weeks, but there is still a chance to that he might stick with Borussia Dortmund, despite the fact his team might not qualify for the Champions League next season.

"That doesn't mean that I am leaving, it just means I'm reflecting," Hummels said. "There's no particular tendency one way or the other. It's just thoughts going through my mind. It will all become clearer in the coming weeks."

The Germany international, who helped his country win the 2014 FIFA World Cup, is in contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2017. Former Germany international Franz Beckenbauer recently said that Hummels will be a big loss for Bundesliga, but he also thinks it is the perfect time for the defender to play in England.

However, Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said that they are not afraid to lose players for the right deal, but he insisted that they have no plans to move Hummels anytime soon. He also reiterated that the defender knows his contractual obligations with the team, and that the club still has control over his future.

"In this moment, this is a total dummy discussion, because there is no offer," Hummels said. "If one arrives, we will discuss it internally and make a decision. But this decision will only be taken by BVB. The situation at Dortmund is like this: We've lost one major player each year, but we don't stop playing football."
