Fox ‘The Last Man on Earth’ Season 1 Episode 9 & 10 Spoilers: The Group Comes Across a Cow, Todd Says 'I Love You' to Melissa [Watch]
This new Fox comedy about a man who has survived an unknown plague and thought of himself as the last surviving person on Earth has reached epic levels of semi-dark humor.
In the next episode, Phil (Will Forte) comes across a cow. The next scene shows he and Carol (Kristen Schaal) enjoying their meal. Meanwhile, Melissa (January Jones) thinks they are being over the top.
Melissa will also get an "I love you" from Todd (Mel Rodriguez). Melissa simply says, "thank you."
The comedy starts off immediately as Phil, begins a search to find out if he truly is the last man on Earth. Although he is obviously perplexed by the idea of being alone, he also embraces it with his lackadaisical behavior that indicates he can achieve some sort of happiness given his situation.
Even with his obvious selfishness though, Phil still writes on billboards all across the nation "Alive in Tucson" in hopes that someone will see it then seek him out. That of which is where Carol comes in after seeing the billboard and seeking him out.
Portrayed as an eccentric but caring woman, Carol plans to repopulate the Earth with Phil but insists that they get married first. After the marriage though, the beautiful Melissa (January Jones) shows up after following one of Phil's billboard signs and makes things a little more complicated for Phil, whose selfish side starts to come back.
His attitude thickens even more when Todd also enters the picture and takes up with Melissa, giving Phil a newfound sense of jealousy and a slight case of buyers remorse for his marriage to Carol.
But now, what we can expect to see is that relationships in a post-apocalyptic world are the same (or even more) complicated mess that they were when the Earth was full of people.
The only really challenge they are dealing with now is how they are going to survive each other when they really don't have any other options in a human depleted world.
The entertainment review website Rotten Tomatoes has given this show an 84 percent rating with an audience score of 77 percent. All new, back-to-back episodes are scheduled to air on April 12.
