'Fast & Furious 8' News: Will Eva Mendes Reprise her Role on the Lucrative 'Fast & Furious' Franchise?
Will Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Eva Mendes reunite on the big screen once again? The inquiring minds of "Fast & Furious" fans want to know!
Given that "Furious 7" has been a colossal, record-breaking hit, it comes as no surprise that there's been buzz in Hollywood and beyond of who will star in the next installment.
On social media, there's been a lot of talk that Mendes would be a perfect choice to return to the celebrated cast.
"Latino Review's Umberto 'El Mayimbe' Gonzalez posted an Instagram photo addressing the rumored return of Eva Mendes," Latina reported. "With #fast7 now in the record books, maybe the upcoming NY based #Fast8 story will depend on whether they can bring back Eva Mendes' character: US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes,' he wrote."
The 41-year-old "Hitch" actress played Fuentes in the "Fast & Furious" second installment, "2 Fast 2 Furious," and made a cameo in "Fast Five." Well, it turns out that a cameo just might not cut it -- Mendes fans want more!
Also social media, Mendes was recently reminiscing of old times, but not involving her roles on the "Fast & Furious" franchise. Instead she shared a "Throwback Thursday" (#tbt) photo of herself with her fans before she was famous.
Last year, Universal chairman Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter that the plan was to make three more "Fast" films, so fans will hopefully see "la familia" continue on, but it might be tough without the presence of the franchise's beloved actor Paul Walker.
Recently, Diesel also reportedly divulged that "Fast and the Furious 8" will take place in New York, and that Kurt Russell's character, agent Mr. Nobody, would return as well.
The rumors have yet to be confirmed and the producers and Universal are tight-lipped about the next installment. Producer Neal Moritz didn't address the Mendes and Russell rumors, but said: "Honestly, we're just bathing in the success of this. We'll probably get together in a week or so to talk."
