Jaden Smith recently stepped out on the eve of the Coachella music festival wearing a dress, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

The 16-year-old son of actors Will and and Jada Pinkett Smith donned a long sleeved, all black dress with black shorts underneath and a white netted shirt over the dress.

Smith was spotted wearing the dress in Calabasas, California while going out to dinner with a group of his friends.

Prior to stepping out in the dress, Smith alluded to his decision to embrace androgyny on Instagram with a photo of himself wearing an oversized women's T-shirt he purchased at Top Shop.

Following his dinner with friends, Smith tweeted about the first obstacle he experienced wearing a dress. Check out the tweet below.

Since the photo of Smith's dress surfaced the Internet, social media users have tweeted their support of his fashion choice.

Social media users are praising the rapper and actor for not allowing himself to conform to fashion norms and being experimental with his style.

In addition to social media users, Smith's parents are also supporting his decision to wear women's clothing, the Hollywood Life reports.

"[Will and Jada] are both on board when it comes to Jaden's fashion choices. They are so used to it by now that it doesn't bother them at all. They like his choices and think he looks pretty cool," says a Hollywood Life source.

The source adds that Smith has chosen to wear women's clothing for a long time now. His sister, Willow allegedly borrows a lot the clothes he purchases.

In a past interview with Esquire, Will Smith revealed another way his son chooses not to conform to fashion.

Will said that Jaden only owns one pair of shoes, three pair of pants, and five shirts, so that he is not a slave to fashion. And though Will supports his son's minimalistic fashion choice, he does wish that his son would purchase another pair of shoes.

"[Jaden's] like, 'I'm not gonna let myself need things in that way.' But I would like him to get another pair of shoes." Will told Esquire.
