Fox News host Megyn Kelly has started a huge controversial issue after having said that Santa Claus is actually white. On Wednesday, the news anchor passed judgment on an article that questioned the actual race of Santa Claus. It was written by a black journalist.

According to LA Times, when the fox news anchor gave her comment that "Santa is what he is... I wanted to get that straight," it somehow started the spark for a Christmas war. Ms Kelly also did not agree with the writer's suggestion for the Santa figure to just be replaced with a penguin.

"Just because [an image] makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't mean it has to change," Ms Kelly stated. She further made more controversy out of it when she mentioned that Jesus was white too.

NY Daily News mentioned that there was still no news yet of how the Fox News host responded to the huge uproar her criticism has caused but a representative from Fox News said that Ms Kelly will address the racy issue in the days to come.

So is Santa Claus or Jesus Christ really white?

It may be true that both the popular figures have been depicted by most painters from Europe as white for hundreds of years now, there are other scholars who said that the iconic figures were not as "white" as everyone envisions. Jesus was known Jew and in the New Testament portion of the Bible, His looks were not described.

On the other hand, Santa Claus or St Nicholas is known to be a good mix of England's Father Christmas figure and of the Dutch Sinterklaas.

Politico.com noted that Ms Kelly made an interesting statement during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. "The way we do it on the Fox News Channel is the straight news anchors like us give a hard time to both side," she stated.

So will the Fox News host's Christmas be white or blue?
