Snapsolve, a homework-helping app for iPhone, is launching Tuesday. The app will help students answer tough homework questions simply by having them take pictures of the question with their iPhone camera, according to TechCrunch.

The new app will connect students to a tutor directly who will then help them find the answer.

Snapsolve is the latest app from a startup company called StudyRoom. StudyRoom is an online learning platform that first launced at TechCrunch Disrupt in September.

Snapsolve was originally designed for college students and it aimed to arrange online study groups among students. The app wanted to get students together to help each other out and share notes.

When it first launched, Snapsolve was available for 100 schools across the U.S.

Now, Snapsolve's top universities have between a 25 and 50 percent participation rate by its students. During finals week, the service saw between 30 and 43 percent of weekly active users utilizing it. Co-founder and CEO Emerson Malca says that Snapsolve now has more than 500,000 students using the service.

One key component to the service is the "peer mentoring" option. Peer mentoring allows students to connect with to a tutor for a flat rate. The tutors need to earn "reputation points" to qualify as a tutor. The tutoring program allows any grade level to use the service.

To use Snapsolve, students take a picture of the question they are struggling with. They send the picture, along with any notes that might help the tutor with the question to Snapsolve. The student will also select a topic for the question that will help match them to the right tutor.

Usually within 15 minutes, a tutor will respond to the student's question with the answer and an explanation. If the student has further questions, they can comment on the answer.

Snapsolve is available to any student, at any grade level and for any topic. Pricing is based on the question's difficulty and time to solve it. Easy questions are free and most answers are priced between $1.99 and $4.99. Some answers that require longer solving times can cost as much as $9.99.

The app is currently only available for iPhone, but StudyRoom plans to add the app to Android, iPad and OS X platforms.
