Not only does production on a "Fast and Furious 8" movie appear to be a given, but it's almost just as certain the film will play out as an ode to Paul Walker.

According to Hollywood Life, Walker always believed in the idea of continuing the film series run beyond the seventh installment now playing at theatres and scoring huge at the box office. Walker died in a car accident while the filming of "Furious 7" was still ongoing, and the filmmakers elected to use the scenes he shot before his death in the current film.

During the recent MTV Movie Awards, series star and Walker pal Vin Diesel went on record in asserting that there will almost certainly be at least one more installment of the movie "mainly because he felt that he owed it to Paul."

MTV reports Diesel said, "Paul used to say that '[Fast & Furious] 8' was guaranteed. In some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass."

"Furious 7" star Dwayne Johnson recently indicated he's already ready to sign on the dotted line for the next production.

"I talked to Vin today -- we had a nice discussion -- and I think whatever it is, whatever we come up with for 'Furious 8,' we have to raise the bar, in terms of action, but, but also in terms of story and character," he told MTV.

Diesel later added, "'Furious 7′ was for Paul; '8' is from Paul."

According to People, the 40-year-old Walker died when a vehicle he was a passenger crashed into a tree near his California home in December of 2013. The driver was also killed, and police later revealed "speed was a factor" in the crash.

"When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames," police later said in a statement. "The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene."
