Chiquis Rivera is on tour promoting her new memoir, "Forgiveness."

The book explains some of Rivera's painful moments growing up and explains the relationship between her and her mother, the late singer Jenni Rivera.

"More than anything, I feel like this book has been a form of therapy for me, a way of healing, and I want that to be what readers feel," Chiquis told NBC News last week during a tour stop in New York. "It's not to clear up what has been said about me, although it has had an impact on me, but it's more of my journey to forgiveness."

The book gives Chiquis a chance to detail the sexual abuse she suffered from her father, Jose Trinidad Marin. She also tells readers that she was also sexually abused by an unnamed woman.

One of Chiquis' fans surprised her with some flowers and posted Chiquis' reaction in an Instagram video. She reacted with excitement.

The fan, Jonny Vallin, captioned the video: "Honestly her surprised expression when she look up to see me. My (Chiquis) is so nice and sweet. She inherited her beautiful momma's heart of gold. It caught me off guard that I made her so happy. She loves me. N I love her:) #tourwithchiquis."

In the video, Chiquis recognizes the fan and thanks him for coming with a big hug.

Tuesday, Chiquis also posted a picture that showed off all of the gifts, cards and signs that fans sent her during her book tour. She thanked all of her fans for the gifts.


The book explains that Chiquis' relationship with her mother became damaged when Jenni accused her of having an affair with her stepfather, Esteban Loaiza. The mother and daughter never reconciled their relationship before Jenni's tragic death in December 2012, but Chiquis thinks her mother would be proud of her today, NBC News reported.
