Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones seemingly have put all their troubles behind them, with the "Basic Instinct" star recently insisting of their relationship, "We're back stronger than ever."

The A-list couple began their reconciliation last year, just months after they endured a brief separation at least partly brought on by Douglas' cancer battle and Zeta-Jone's admitted struggles with bipolar 11 disorder.

"It can't be a one-way street," the 70-year-old Douglas told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres while appearing on her show. "But I'm crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we're all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most."

But since recommitting themselves to the relationship, People magazine reports Douglas insists their bond has only become strengthened. In the coming days, Douglas added the couple will celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary.

The National Inquirer previously reported Douglas and Zeta-Jones once appeared headed for a permanent split after she effectively "checked out" of the marriage. Back then, a source told the magazine, "It takes two to make a marriage work, and Michael's feeling is that Catherine has 'checked out.'"

Reportedly, all the strife had Douglas ready to throw in the towel as well, and the two seemed to be preparing to wage an epic battle over their estimated $300 million fortune.

All of that seems like ancient history as Douglas shared news of his contentment with DeGeneres.
