“The Blacklist,” the dark, James Spader-starring NBC series, which is soon coming to a close on its second season, is all about surviving messy deals with the devil.

On Thursday’s episode, “Leonard Caul,” Red (James Spader), who has previously been seriously injured, pleads for Liz (Megan Boone) to help search for a mystery man named Nicholas Caul, who knows secrets regarding the Fulcrum, a file which has now become a matter of life and death for Red, according to Spoilers Guide.

As close as everything might get for our antihero, we know that he will live, as in the next episode, "Quon Zhang,” the brilliant criminally oriented strategist finds himself determined to put a stop to a coming threat he discovers after decoding information from the Fulcrum, Spoilers Guide reports.

As all this takes place, the task force discovers the horrifying fact that diseased bodies of Chinese American women are being smuggled out of the country under false identities. And after discovering a picture hidden away in Red’s secret flat, Liz will continue her search for answers about her past.

There has been much drama involved in Red’s search for the Fulcrum, all leading up to a crazy finale.

According to Jon Bokenkamp, the creator and executive producer of the show, The Fulcrum -- a much coveted blackmailing dossier -- will "come front and center in these last four episodes."

The writer and producer, whose past credits include the films “Taking Lives” and “The Call,” says that this season's finale is “much messier, much more desperate, much more dissonant” than last year’s finale, according to TV Line.

Bokenkamp adds the character of Liz will be confronted with making an incredibly hard choice.

“We've got some really big turns coming,” he said of his hot series.

Episode 19 of the second season will air April 23, and Episode 20 will air on April 30 on NBC.
