‘Madam Secretary’ Episode 21 and Finale Spoilers: Iranian Presidential Assassination Plot and Elizabeth Confronts a Former Friend
For those who got used to "Madam Secretary" airing consistently new episodes week-to-week then suffered last week's brief hiatus due to the Academy of Country Music Awards, the wait is over.
In an article on CarterMatt, we will finally get to see the loaded situation Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) is thrust into when an Iranian President comes to the U.S., only to be met with an assassination plot that endangers the stability of the two nation's already unstable relationship.
On top of that, she must also deal with another loaded situation involving a Human Rights protest against the foreign leader. But these protests, no matter how much goodwill the country is visiting for, have a purely valid claim, namely his country's intent to pursue the stoning of a gay Iranian citizen.
All of this and more will take place on April 26 in Episode 21, which is titled "The Kill List." But that will also lead us to the finale on May 3, which is poised to resolve major storylines from this past season and is likely to tie up a lot of loose ends.
According to Spoilers Guide, the finale, titled "There But For the Grace of God," Elizabeth will finally confront her former friend Juliet (Nilaja Sun), which will lead her to flashbacks of her former CIA days. Back then, President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) was the CIA Director. He had once offered a job, which would have undoubtedly changed the direction of her life.
The finale also features Stevie (Wallis Currie-Wood) and Harrison Dalton (Jason Ralph), the President's son, in the beginnings of a relationship, which will produce undesirable consequences.
"Madam Secretary" has been ranked the #2 new show of the season with an average of 14.9 million viewers. It also ranked as the most watched scripted television show on Sunday and CBS has renewed it for a second season already, giving it the necessary momentum for outstanding storylines that could potentially lead the show to years of success.
