'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Episode 19 Spoilers: Will Damon Give Elena The Cure in 'Because?' [Watch]
Damon will face a tough dilemma over whether or not he should give Elena the cure. Meanwhile, the couple will fight to help Caroline regain her humanity in Thursday's all-new episode of "The Vampire Diaries."
Last week, Stefan's mother, Lily, helped to trigger Stefan's humanity switch. Now, it will be up to him to work with Damon and Elena to help Caroline flip on her own humanity switch.
A preview clip of the upcoming episode, which is entitled "Because," reveals that the three friends will devise a plan to trigger Caroline's humanity. Stefan will lock Caroline in captivity and drain her blood while pretending he still has no humanity. In the meantime, Damon and Elena will help Caroline recall good old memories, such as decade dances and romances. However, executive producer Caroline Dries teases that "Caroline's not going to go down without a fight."
"She turns the tables on them and really forces them to analyze their relationship and their future together," says Dries before Caroline appears to antagonize Elena and Damon in a promo video.
Another sneak peak of the new episode reveals that Damon and Elena will have a heart-to-heart discussion about Elena's fantasy life as a human. In the clip, Damon and Elena begin by discussing potential honeymoon destinations for Alaric and Jo. Eventually, Damon shifts the conversation by asking his girlfriend to imagine her own life five years from now if she were a human. Elena responds by giving Damon a detailed layout of her ideal life, which includes them living together in Tribeca and Damon working as the owner of a bar. She also tells him that she would love to have two children.
According to executive producer Caroline Dries, Damon's decision about sharing the vampire cure with Elena will result in a "massive fallout" for Elena and everyone else on the show, reports TVLine.
Actress Candice Accola also dropped spoilers about her character Caroline and her upcoming scenes with Michael Trevino, who is leaving the show at the end of the season.
"Michael [Trevino] and I do have some scenes coming up. We're going to be reminded of the journey that they've had up to this point," Accola told E! News. "It's just very real. It was a very honest moment between the characters. It was just very simple and honest of where these characters are at this point in their lives."
In addition, Michael Malarkey hinted that a romance may spark between his character, Enzo, with Damon's mom, Lily.
"You're not quite sure where the relationship is going to go. It could lead to a number of things," Malarkey says. "We've intentionally left that open. There's moments in upcoming episodes where you see real chemistry real there, where you think, 'Oh maybe it could be something more than just friendship.' We've left the door open."
When asked how Damon will react to his mom and his BFF's connection, the actor replied, "We don't explore it too much, but I'm sure we're going to be delving more into it in season seven."
According to Dread Central, the synopsis for "Because" reads as follows:
"Wrestling with whether or not to tell Elena (Nina Dobrev) about the cure, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) brings up their future together and what life would be like if they weren't vampires. Meanwhile, it's all hands on deck when attempts to stop a humanity-free Caroline (Candice Accola) doesn't go as planned.
"Elsewhere, when Bonnie (Kat Graham) discovers that Damon has betrayed her trust, she takes matters into her own hands, setting off a chain of events that leaves Damon dealing with the fallout. Lastly, after being forced to face his traumatic past, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) sets out for answers and is surprised when he learns the truth about the day he was turned into a vampire."
Season 6, Episode 19 of "The Vampire Diaries," entitled "Because," will air Thursday, April 23 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
