The League of United Latin American Citizens will host its Immigration Summit on October 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Washington, DC. The summit will take place in the Kennedy Caucus Room at the Russell Senate Building,

The summit will feature a round-table discussion on immigration with members of President Obama's administration, advocates and LULAC members.

"The Immigration Summit will provide you with the opportunity to hear about advancements made by the Administration as they relate to immigration reform and engage in dialogue with other immigration advocates, policy makers, community activists and LULAC members," the invitation said.

The first part of the summit is a morning Plenary Session . Administration officials have been invited to brief attendees on their respective immigration related topics. The second part is the afternoon session where attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with other community members during breakout sessions that are designed to delve further into the social, health and economic issues that impact the community as they relate to immigration.

LULAC's goal for the Summit is to develop an action plan for achieving comprehensive immigration reform by providing a common space for progressive and promising dialogues among policy makers, community leaders, immigration advocates, LULAC members and legal minds alike.

The LULAC said communities of color are disproportionately impacted by the policy issues such as comprehensive immigration reform, health, AG jobs and labor, education/DREAM Act, domestic violence and human trafficking and economic impact.

Policy leaders and community advocates will be divided into breakout sessions based on their expertise where they will have an opportunity to engage in a robust dialogue and develop three recommendations, and strategies to achieve comprehensive immigration reform.
