There is a new version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition available Monday, which will be exciting news to those fans of the open world game that are currently participating in the beta testing group.

This new update is tagged as version 0.11.0 beta 6 and comes with two new features and a set of “bug fixes.”

As detailed in Droidgamers, some of these bug fixes include “Fixed items in chest not saving when quitting” and “Creative/survival mode change works again.”

If you happen to be a part of the beta group, this new version is available at Google Play for download now.

If you are not a part of the beta but desire to be so, here are the steps you need to follow, as explained by Droidgamers:

1) Join the Google+ community.
2) Opt into the Minecraft Pocket Edition Beta.
3) Make certain that you have an Android device which can run Minecraft Pocket Edition.
4) Make sure that you own the full version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition, and not the free demo.

There is as of yet still no official release date for version 0.11.0, but things are definitely on the move over and Minecraft.

The “sandbox” game has apparently finally addressed its gender issues.

Starting Wednesday, as reported by the Washington Post, Minecraft players using Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox consoles will be able to select a seemingly female character named Alex as their avatar. Alex has thinner arms, pinker lips and a swoop of hair around her neck, which is all supposed to identify her as female.

For a while now the game's choices regarding gender have been an issue with fans, parents and teachers of the game.

In March Minecraft won the 2015 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for "Most Addicting Game."
