'Downton Abbey' Season 6 Spoilers: Wedding Between Carson and Mrs. Hughes Being Filmed
The fans will get one of next season's most anticipated scenes: the wedding between Carson and Mrs. Hughes. Though next season will be the last of the very popular costume drama "Downton Abbey," recent reports reveal the possibility next season will see the most adorable wedding happen.
Season 6 will be the last for the highly acclaimed costume drama; however, writer Julian Fellowes is still aware of what the show's fans want and look forward to. Last season ended with Carson (Jim Carter) proposing to Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan).
"Take your time to decide but know that I'm not marrying anyone else," he told her.
"Oh Mr Carson I can assure the very last thing in the world that I am in this moment is offended," she answered.
According to the Mirror, recent photos have surfaced of Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith, in what appears to be attire for Mrs. Hughes and Carson's wedding. She is wearing a robin's egg blue dress with a brown coat on top and a matching hat. The filming was taking place at Burghclere, Hampshire.
The photos also reveal another potential spoiler: accompanying Lady Edith is Bertie Pelham. Played by Harry Hadden-Paton, Pelham was introduced in the Christmas Special as Brancaster Castle's agent.
During the shooting scene, Lady Edith appears to like the man, suggesting he could be her new love interest. If he is to appear in the servants' wedding, it could mean the couple does become a reality.
Speaking with the Express, Catherine Steadman, who played Mabel Lane-Fox, revealed a bit more about what to expect.
"Everyone knew in series five that series six was going to be the final series, and knowing the little I know about the direction it's going in it totally makes sense," she said.
"I think it will come to a very exciting and fulfilling conclusion. Julian's sort of thought long and hard about it and it's the best possible ending."
What could be this fulfilling ending? Will Lady Mary finally remarry and will Lady Edith find happiness?
